Following the Black Monday stock market crash of October 1987, speculators began to pile into alternative asset classes, one of which was high end classic and exotic motor cars.

During the next two-and-a-half years, prices for certain models increased at an incredible rate. At the height of the madness in early 1990, cars like the Ferrari 288 GTO and F40 were selling for between five and ten times their original list price. Lamborghinis were also a hot ticket with some dealers ordering cars for themselves to immediately sell on at two to three times the RRP.

Once the party was over, the years that followed saw myriad delivery mileage cars emerge, many of which had been re-possessed by banks. Even today, the odd as-new machine comes on to the market from that crazy period.

Currently up for sale at the Hexagon Classics showroom in London is just such a car: a 1989 Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary.

Configured in arguably the most popular colour scheme for the era, red with beige upholstery, this right-hand drive machine was also ordered without the rear spoiler that looked so out of place on these last-of-line derivatives.

Remarkably, this timewarp Countach has covered just 218 miles from new which must surely make it among the freshest examples to exist.

Reprinted below is Hexagon Classics’ description:

  • Year: 1989

  • Mileage: 218

  • Exterior colour: Rosso

  • Interior colour: Champagne

Hexagon Classics are very proud to offer what may be possibly the lowest mileage Lamborghini Countach on offer today.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the founding of Automobili Lamborghini Spa they designed and built what would become the ultimate Countach.

Commonly known as the Anniversario, the 25th Anniversary Edition was the last Countach produced.

Often regarded as the most refined Countach, and arguably also one of the best looking.
