One to Buy: 1 of 200 1992 Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione Verde York

The Evoluzione was Lancia’s last and perhaps most significant technical push to keep the all-conquering Delta HF Integrale at the head of the field in top flight rallying.

Launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 1991 (by which time around 2000 examples had already been produced), the Evoluzione ushered in a series of technical updates designed to improve grip, stability and handling. It was also the most powerful Integrale yet and to incorporate the myriad chassis improvements, featured an aggressive new wide-arched body.

As per Group A regulations of the time, Lancia had to build at least 5000 Evoluziones to go rallying and among these were an array of special editions equipped with a host of special parts.

Perhaps the most handsomely configured of the limited production Evoluziones was the Verde York of which Lancia built 200 units.

Each came with special dark green paint, high-backed Recaro front seats and tan leather upholstery along with a World Rally Champion tailgate badge and a numbered plaque on the centre console.

A particularly fine and highly original example of the Verde York is currently on offer at the Ruote da Sogno showroom in Reggio Emilia. With a little over 74,000km on the odometer, number 148 of the 200 cars built is an excellent unrestored specimen of arguably the most desirable iteration of Lancia’s fabled Group A homologation special.
