VIN: the Nick Asher / Rod Stewart Lamborghini Countach Quattrovalvole chassis JLA12256
History of chassis JLA12256
Of the believed 17 right-hand drive Countach Quattrovalvoles equipped with side skirts, JLA12256 was unique. Painted Bianco Polo Park with a blue leather interior and white piping, it was unusually specified without the expensive rear wing option.
The car was ordered by British businessman, Nick Asher, who also raced Class 1 Offshore powerboats. Asher collected the car from the factory in early 1988. He drove it back to the UK on export plates after which it was registered E440 MYL.
Later in the year, JLA12256 appeared at a couple of track days including one at Castle Combe (depicted above).
Nick Asher kept the QV for about a year. It was sold to make way for a 25th Anniversary. Despite having paid around £90,000 for the new car in 1988, market conditions in 1989 meant Asher was able to sell for £135,000.
The purchaser was none other than Rod Stewart, who had famously owned a fleet of Lamborghinis over the previous two decades.
Stewart had the QV fitted with a rear spoiler and kept it until November 1992 when it was sold via ADT Auctions to Glasgow property developer, David Bennett. By this time the market for exotic motors had crashed and Bennett picked the car up for just over £61,000.
