VIN: Pimp Cartel Boss Klaus Barkowsky's Lamborghini Countach LP400 S chassis 1121130
History of chassis 1121130
Chassis 1121130 was a second series Countach LP400 S.
Compared to the series one, this latest iteration had new concave wheels. 105 were built.
Configured in a menacing Black / Black colour scheme complete with optional rear spoiler, chassis 1121130 was dispatched on 18th January 1980.
Its destination was the German Lamborghini agent, Hubert Hahne, in Dusseldorf, Germany.
1121130 was purchased by Klaus Barkowsky.
Barkowsky was the leader of the Nutella gang, an 80-strong cartel of pimps based in the St. Pauli red light district of Hamburg.
Nutella gang members were renowned for their flashy sports cars, expensive watches and extravagant sense of style.
Everyone in the neighbourhood knew the black Lamborghini and its driver.
Prior to the Countach, Barkowsky had owned a Chevrolet Corvette which he replaced with a Miura SV (also reputedly sourced from Hubert Hahne).
112130 was registered HH UD 308.
Soon after he took delivery of the Countach, Barkowsky (who has since become an artist) decided to have the car given a custom paint job.
Barkowsky’s design depicted a glass prism dispersing light into colour; it was an elaboration of the George Hardie / Hipgnosis artwork for Pink Floyd’s 1973 album The Dark Side of the Moon. Graphics covered the car’s nose, roof and rear bodywork.
The Nutella gang did not have things entirely their own way in St. Pauli.
Rival gang, GmbH, was of a similar size and, in September 1981, violence between the cartels spilled over when one of the pimps was murdered in a downturn club. Barkowsky is pictured above attending the funeral of a fellow Nutella pump in 1982.
By 1983, Barkowsky had sold 1121130.
It then went on to the Bonn registration, BN 04121. The car is pictured here at Goodwood in 1983.
1121130 was later rebuilt at the factory, switched to red / tan and later sold to Japan.
Back in Hamburg, violence escalated. In 1989, Barkowsky was convicted of throwing a knife into the back of a 21 year old. Shortly beforehand, he had been shot at in one of the Hamburg clubs.
The authorities clamped down on the Nutella and GmbH gangs in the early 1990s, since which time Albanian gangsters have conquered the neighbourhood.
