One to Buy: 1 of 1 Bonamitsilber 2010 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

After Mercedes’ collaboration with its F1 engine partner McLaren yielded the commercially disappointing SLR, the German firm elected to produce its next flagship sports car entirely in-house.

Significantly, the resultant SLS AMG also marked a return for Mercedes’ iconic Gullwing doors which had not been seen on a production offering from Stuttgart since the W198 300 SL was discontinued in 1957. With its intoxicating specification and a much lower price than the outgoing SLR, this heir to arguably the most iconic model in Mercedes’ history was destined to be a massive hit.

Somewhat strangely, given that Mercedes offered custom shades through its Z98 Paintwork Outside Sample Card for just €10,000 when the base price for an SLS was nearly €180,000, relatively few customers opted to configure their new car with a one-off exterior colour.

However, currently residing at the Rock N Roll Classics showroom in Varsenare, Belgium, is just such an SLS.

Produced in 2010, this stunning SLS is the only example ordered in special order Bonamitsilber, a shade that alternates between pale metallic green and soft grey depending on the light. Inside, the first owner opted for Exclusive Beige leather with Black seat inlays and matching Black carpet.

Other optional extras fitted when new included the expensive carbon ceramic brake system, exposed carbonfibre interior trim, memory seats, a rear view camera and AMG Performance steering wheel.

Today, this one-of-one, two owner SLS is being offered for sale with a little under 44,000km on the odometer. It retains original factory paint throughout and is accompanied by a perfect maintenance history.

One for the true Mercedes-Benz collector.
