History of chassis 060

Aside from the prototype F1 Clinic Model, chassis 060 was one of only two F1 production cars to be painted that colour (the other having been chassis 014 which was Titanium Yellow and delivered to the Brunei Royal Family).

Uniquely finished in Dandelion Yellow with Dark Grey upholstery and Solar Yellow driver’s seat inserts, 060 was also ordered with a spare dark grey GTR-style alcantara steering wheel, a spare exhaust to F1 LM specification and a McLaren F1-branded sunstrip (all of which were supplied with the car but not installed). Another unique feature was a painted Gordon Murray signature located on the right-hand side rear fender.

The 47th F1 road car built and one of just seven completed during 1996, chassis 060 was sold to a Japanese collector on February 26th 1997 but never registered or used on the road. Instead, the car was stored (along with another unregistered example, chassis 029) at the renowned Art Sports dealership which had showrooms in both Tokyo and Osaka.

Art Sports first put chassis 060 up for sale in 2013. In 2017 it was sold to British dealer Tom Hartley Jnr., still with all the original factory transit wrapping still in place.
