VIN: the Eduardo Miura Fernandez / Novios 68 Lamborghini Miura P400 chassis 0961
History of chassis 0961
Chassis 0961 was the fourth Miura built.
Painted Argento Indianapolis with a Nero interior, it was assembled on a production spec. 0.9mm chassis with left-hand drive. Whereas the previous pair of Miuras (0706 and 0862) came with a cockpit ventilation hatch at the back of the roof, 0961 was built with two slim banks of vents. Headroom was also slightly improved.
Between March 9th and 13th of 1967, the brand new car was displayed on the Lamborghini stand at the Geneva Motor Show. Another Miura (0706) was on the Bertone stand alongside the show-stopping Marzal.
Signed off for delivery on April 7th, chassis 0961 was destined for a few weeks of promotional duty in Spain. Afterwards it would be handed over to its first owner, Eduardo Miura Fernandez.
Fernandez was a third generation breeder of fighting bulls and a personal friend of Ferruccio Lamborghini. His Miura ranch in the province of Seville was renowned for producing large and difficult fighting bulls.
Ferruccio Lamborghini was a big fan of the sport and, as a Taurus, was born under the sign of the bull. He had adopted the symbol for his auto maker’s crest and named this latest machine in recognition of his friend’s illustrious bloodline.
Before being dispatched to Fernandez, 0961 was delivered to the Spanish Lamborghini concessionaire: Odin of Barcelona. Within a couple of weeks, it was on display at the Barcelona Motor Show which ran from April 20th to 30th.
In June, the car appeared at a Jarama press event, after which it returned to Odin’s Barcelona showroom.
While on display, the producers of Novios 68 (a Spanish comedy) filmed a scene at Odin’s showroom that prominently featured the silver Miura.
0961 was then delivered to the Miura ranch in Seville.
