VIN: Lamborghini Countach Quattrovalvole chassis GLA12942
History of chassis GLA12942
This unique Countach Quattrovalvole was ordered by Lamborghini London (Portman) for wealthy British-Iranian businessman, Ali Taefi. Mr Taefi registered the Countach on 1st August 1986 to his company: Earlgate Properties of Warrington Gardens, London, W9.
The only pre-skirt right-hand drive Quattrovalvole painted Acapulco Blue, chassis GLA12942 had further personalisation in the way of a blue dash and steering wheel for the otherwise beige interior. Like most Countach of the era, Lamborghini’s expensive rear spoiler option was also selected.
First registered D496 YFM, Mr Taefi kept chassis GLA12942 until December 8th 1987, by which time it had covered nearly 6000km.
The second owner was a Mr Draper who switched the car onto his private plate, LAM 608. In the eight months Mr Draper owned the car, it did a further 7000km and was a regular at Lamborghini Club events. It was also photographed for the Peter Dron book Lamborghini Countach: The Complete Story.
Sold again on August 9th 1988, custodian number three was club member, Mr Davey. Chassis GLA12942 had by now covered around 13,000km and was re-registered D301 POV.
The car retained this plate for many years including during the later ownership of Gerard Lopez (Genii Capital). Lopez stored the Lamborghini with the rest of his collection in Luxembourg, by which time the rear spoiler had been removed.
