History of chassis 032

Following the prototype (chassis 001, assembled by Ferrari), the 333 SP was built on Ferrari’s behalf, initially by Dallara (to chassis 014) and then by Michelotto (from 015 to 041).

Chassis 032 was ordered by Japanese industrialist, Yoshikuni Okamoto, and completed by Michelotto in late 1999. It was configured with traditional Rosso Corsa paint and joined Okamoto’s highly regarded collection in Kobe.

Okamoto had begun collecting high end sports cars in the 1980s and gradually assembled one of the finest Ferrari collections in the world. Chassis 032 joined a 288 GTO, a GTO Evoluzione, an F40 LM, an F50 GT, a 250 GTO and even a McLaren F1.

Yoshikuni Okamoto headed Okamoto Industries Inc., the family firm that had began life as the Okamoto Rubber Company in 1934. Initially the business manufactured rubberised clothing and raincoats. However, it quickly moved into the lucrative market for condoms.

Today, Okamoto Industries Inc. trades throughout Asia and the Americas. It remains Japan’s number one condom manufacturer.

Chassis 032 remained in Kobe until September 2005, at which point it headed for Australia. The car was then sold again in 2011 and departed to Canada. Between 2015 and 2016, chassis 032 was used in various Corse Clienti events to include the Finali Mondiali.
