VIN: the Brunei Royal Family Ferrari 288 GTO chassis 56655
History of chassis 56655
Chassis 56655 started life as a conventional left-hand drive 288 GTO painted Rosso Corsa with Nero leather upholstery. In June 1985 the car was delivered to its first owner, Filea SpA, a financial services company based in Como.
During the eight years that followed, the GTO subsequently passed through the hands of two further Italian-based owners.
In 1993 it was purchased by the Brunei Royal Family and dispatched to Pininfarina. At the time, Pininfarina were creating a plethora of custom commissions for the Brunei Royals and chassis 56655 was one of four 288 GTOs that underwent a significant programme of modification along with 55671, 56641 and 57727.
By 1994, Pininfarina had completed its work on chassis 56655: the car emerged wearing a fabulous coat of Indiana Blue paint with contrasting red swage line while the interior had been upholstered in matching blue leather. Like the other trio of 288s destined for Brunei, Pininfarina also converted chassis 55655 to right-hand drive.
Once landed in Brunei, the unique blue GTO was registered BK65. It has remained part of the Brunei Royal Family collection ever since.
