One to Buy: one owner 3200 mile 2016 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider
Having produced the stunning and heavily over-subscribed 8C Competizione and Spider between 2007 and 2010, Alfa Romeo decided to create a less expensive iteration of the modern sports car theme that would spearhead the company’s return to North America.
Although the resultant 4C retailed at a fraction of the 8C’s list price, it was considerably more advanced having most notably been based around a carbonfibre tub. In the engine bay was a turbocharged 1.75-litre inline four derived from the contemporary Giulietta which was hooked up to a six-speed dual-clutch F1-style transmission.
Following the unveiling of a prototype in 2011, the production-ready 4C Coupe debuted two years later at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. A 4C Spider subsequently broke cover at Geneva in 2014 with the production version following at Detroit in January 2015.
Despite is state-of-art specification and stunning appearance, Alfa Romeo fell well short of producing the 20,000 4Cs they had hoped for.
In total, just over 9000 were eventually built by the time production was discontinued in 2020 and today they represent something of a bargain considering their many attributes.
Currently on offer at The Barn, Miami, is a highly optioned one owner 4C Roadster from 2016 with just 3200 miles on the odometer.
Configured in Giallo Prototipo with black upholstery, it was optioned with yellow stitching, the exposed carbonfibre interior pack, exposed carbonfibre rollover bar, exposed carbonfibre gearbox cooling scoop, a sports exhaust, ten-spoke dark finish wheels and yellow calipers.
Today, this immaculate future collectable is being advertised at just $64,900 which represents superb value for a such a low mileage carbonfibre-tubbed sportscar from one of Italy’s most revered manufacturers.
