One to Buy: Whitest White 2013 Lexus LFA Nurburgring Package

Having presented a trio of design concepts for their new front-engined supercar since 2005, Lexus finally unveiled the finalised LFA at the Tokyo Motor Show in October 2009. Production versions then started to emerge from Toyota’s Motomatchi plant in Aichi during late 2010.

The LFA was built around a carbonfibre central tub to which aluminium subframes were attached at either end. Suepsnion was via double wishbones up front and a multi-link arrangement out back with coil-over monotube dampers all round.

In the engine bay was a normally aspirated 4.8-litre 553bhp V10 that Lexus hooked up to a six-speed F1-style paddle shift transaxle gearbox. A carbonfibre body designed by Kengo Matsumoto completed the specification.

Just 500 LFAs were produced over a two year period between December 2010 and December 2012.

Of these, 64 were configured with the Nurburgring package that offered an extra 10bhp, a quick-shift transmission, a deep chin splitter, front canards, a massive rear spoiler, lightweight BBS alloy wheels and suspension with greater adjustability.

Today, one of those Nurburgring Package derivatives is currently on offer with Bingo Sports in Tokyo.

Configured in the superb colour scheme of Whitest White with a mix of violet and black upholstery, this low mileage right-hand drive example – chassis 495 – was first registered in 2013.

Reprinted below is Bingo Sports’ description for this rare modern era Japanese supercar:

VIN: LFA10-1000495

Number 482 of 500, one of 64 with the Nürburgring Package which provides an additional 10hp, faster gear shifts, splitter, canards, fixed rear wing, lightweight BBS wheels. At the time of launch it was one of the fastest ever production cars to lap the Nürburgring with a time of 7:14

The Lexus LFA is loved for its V10 and the incredible noise it produces. This engine is famously the size of a V8 and lighter than a V6, the redline is at 9,000 rpm and it can reach that figure in just 0.6 seconds. It was developed with Yamaha Motors and the exhaust note was tuned by Yamaha Corporation, the company better known for making musical instruments. The result is a sound that is similar to the one old F1 cars used to make.

The chassis and body are made of carbon fibre and overall it took Lexus close to 10 years of development to make the LFA. It was made to show Toyota’s/Lexus’ technical capabilities and it’s almost certain that we will never see a similar car made again.
