VIN: the Yoshio Tsuzuki McLaren F1 GT chassis 58 F1 GT
History of chassis 58 F1 GT
Chassis 58 F1 GT was one of the three cars built to GT specification by McLaren. Of these, one was an experimental prototype retained by McLaren (chassis 56 XP GT) and two were sold to existing VIP owners.
Chassis 54 F1 GT went to the Brunei Royal Family. It was the tenth and last McLaren destined for Brunei after five F1 road cars, three F1 LMs and an F1 GTR.
The other car, chassis 58 F1 GT, was ordered by ZENT founder and CEO Yoshio Tsuzuki who had already acquired a Marlboro White F1 road car (chassis 053), a Historic Orange F1 LM (chassis LM2) and an ex-Team Lark F1 GTR (chassis 13R).
Established in 1971, ZENT became a giant in the Japanese amusement and entertainment industry, accumulating a large real estate portfolio in the process. 1992 saw ZENT become title sponsor for Toyota’s World Sportscar Championship challenge and the company has continued to promote itself through various motor sport programmes ever since.
Yoshio Tsuzuki configured his F1 GT with Dark Burgundy paint. The only other F1 to officially come in this colour was Rowan Atkinson’s standard road car (chassis 061) although the shades are not identical.
Completed durgin mid 1997, chassis 58 F1 GT joined Tsuzuki’s ZAZ Museum in Nagoya.
It returned to Woking in the mid 2000s at which point the colour was changed to a two-tone Silver and Black livery inspired by McLaren’s F1 cars of the time.
