One to Buy: 1 owner 11,000km from new UR Green 1991 BMW Z1

Such was the combined effect of a booming collector car market and pent-up demand from domestic customers for a two-seat BMW Roadster that over 4000 orders were placed for the highly anticipated Z1 before production got underway.

Having been launched in its final form at the Frankfurt Motor Show during September 1987, the first Z1s began to roll out of BMW’s Munich plant in October 1988. By the time production was discontinued in June 1991, exactly 8000 Z1s had been built.

Of these, an astonishing 6443 were purchased by German customers.

One such home market example is currently on offer at the Premium Classics showroom in Boxtel, the Netherlands.

Registered towards the end of production in April 1991, this superb Z1 has remained with its first and only custodian since new, during which time it has covered a mere 11,000km.

Configured in UR Green Metallic (one of 2041 built), it was also specified with Dark Grey Nubuck upholstery and the Z1’s trademark camouflage inserts. Uniquely, this clearly cherished machine was equipped by its solitary owner with additional read outs for oil pressure and oil temperature which give an indication of the cosseted life this car has led.
