VIN: Yamaha OX99-11 chassis 007
History of chassis 007
Chassis 007 was numerically the last Yamaha OX99-11 prototype constructed.
In total, three cars were completed, all of which were painted different colours: 007 was black, 003 was green and 001 was red.
Like 001, chassis 007 was used as a presentation car while 003 served as a development mule.
The Yamahas were all UK registered on the same day (August 11th 1992) and issued consecutive licence plates. 007 was K1 OKY, 001 was K2 OXY and 003 was K3 OXY. Each was registered in the UK because British firms International Auto Design (IAD) and later Ypsilon Technology were contracted to carry out the design, build and development programme.
However, because most economies were in a prolonged slump by the time the project came to fruition, Yamaha decided to scrap any plans for production.
All three OX99-11 prototypes were subsequently shipped out to Yamaha in Japan where they remain to this day.
