VIN: Yamaha OX99-11 chassis 003
History of chassis 003
Chassis 003 was one of three OX99-11 prototypes assembled in anticipation of a short production run for customers.
003 was painted green whereas the other two prototypes were red (001) and black (007).
001, 003 and 007 were all registered for road use in August 11th 1992. They were issued consecutively numbered licence plates: K1 OXY (007), K2 OXY (001) and K3 OXY (003).
The cars were registered in the UK where International Auto Design (IAD) and Ypsilon Technology carried out design, build and development.
Chassis 001 and 007 served mainly as promotional and presentation cars. By contrast, chassis 003 was the extensively used test mule.
Unfortunately, as a result of poor trading conditions and exponentially rising costs, Yamaha decided to pull the plug on the OX99-11 project. As a result, after the three prototypes, no further examples were completed.
Today, all three OX99-11s are owned by Yamaha.
